... a graphic designer with 30 years’ experience of making and helping others make books and publications of all kinds.
I collaborate responsively with authors and artists to arrive at the best, right result that makes them happy and proud.
I allow the meaning of words and the beauty of images to shine and communicate together, and strive for elegance, clarity, balance, legibility and utility (except when trashiness, confusion or frippery may be required).
I am literate and thoughtful, sensitive to subject matter and target audience, and skilled at analysing and structuring material to find the appropriate form and style for each project.
I have worked with individuals, small groups and large corporations and institutions, on everything from simple flyers to complex books and magazines, with print runs from 10 to 1,000,000.
I am usually wholly responsible for every aspect of the design, layout and accuracy of every page, as well as the management of printing and production.
